"Come out dancing to some phenomenal, face-melting, blues music by Johnny Fury."
Johnny Fury (born John Hyland) is a blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona born October 28, 1991. He started playing guitar at age 12. He listened relentlessly to recordings by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Beatles, and other artists at an early age. During high school, he played guitar for the Phoenix psych-rock group, Checkered Bread. At age 17, he flew to Boston to pursue a music degree at the Berklee College of Music. He spent countless hours studying jazz, classical, blues, and other styles in Boston.
In an effort to achieve recognition for his guitar playing, Johnny entered the Jimi Hendrix Competition 2014. His work paid off when he was selected as a popular winner in the contest. Judges for the competition included Janie Hendrix (Experience Hendrix), Brad Tolinksi (Guitar World Magazine Editor-in-Chief), and Eddie Kramer (Engineer for Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Winter, Kiss).
Following graduation at Berklee, Johnny played several shows in Boston. He also released his first album: Johnny Fury. On December 27, 2014, Johnny made his first radio appearance on WMFO radio (Somerville, Massachusetts). He spent much of 2014-2015 performing on the East coast.
